Common Treatments for Dental Emergencies
Depending on the type of emergency that you have, Dr. Miller will treat you accordingly. Dental decay pain is one of the main reasons people visit our office. When you experience severe pain, you may be scared and unsure of what to do. Severe oral pain caused by decay needs to be addressed right away – do not delay your care and risk further damage. At Rick Miller, DDS, we may recommend a tooth-colored filling for your cavity.
Sometimes, however, dental decay goes much farther than a cavity and extends to the nerve and pulp of the tooth. If this happens, we may perform a root canal on the tooth and then place a crown over top of the tooth to add a layer of protection. If you have an abscess, treatment right away with care will help get your mouth back to a healthy state.
If your tooth was knocked out, we will try to place it back in your mouth as quickly as possible. It is vital that you do everything you can to save the tooth. If you are unable to place the tooth in your mouth, cover it with milk in a glass and bring it in. Once in our office, Dr. Miller will try to place your tooth back in the socket. If we cannot save the tooth, we have other options available to restore your missing tooth, such as dental implants.
